Every year, collectors and enthusiasts wait with bated breath to see the new Rolex models, and this year’s releases did not disappoint. There is a stunning, new-generation Oyster Perpetual Explorer and Explorer II, several fashion-forward Daytona models with gorgeous dials, and a couple stunning diamond-set watches in the Daydate and Lady Datejust collections for truly luxury watches enthusiasts.
New-Generation Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer
You can wear a piece of history with the new Rolex Explorer. This watch was originally developed to survive Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s climb to the top of Mt. Everest, and it has graced the wrist of countless intrepid explorers ever since. The new-generation Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer has a 36mm case — the same size as the case was 1953 — and comes an Oystersteel and a yellow Rolesor version, a duotone look that combines 18K yellow gold and Oystersteel. It has a white or black lacquer dial — lacquer is new to the Explorer — with with contrasting index hour markers and numerals. The Chromalight display is visible in the darkest conditions — even climbing a mountain in the pre-dawn hours. It is powered by the automatic Calibre 3230 that has a 70-hour power reserve and is waterproof to 100m.
New-Generation Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II
Rolex also releases a new-generation Oyster Perpetual Explorer II with a redesigned 42mm case and bracelet. There are two versions in Oystersteel — a white lacquer dial with black PVD hour markers with matte black hour, minute, and seconds hands and the model’s signature orange 24-hour hand. The Oyster case is waterproof to 100m and it features calibre 3285, which first debuted in 2018. The movement holds several patents and Rolex’s Chronergy escapement. It has a 70-hour power reserve.
New Cosmograph Daytona with Meteorite Dial
Daytona fans, rejoice. Rolex has released three new versions of the coveted watch in 18K yellow, white, and Everose gold, all with stunning meteorite dials. Each of the watches features a fine meteorite dial selected for their gorgeous colors and rich patterns. There are three contrasting chronograph subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The 18K white gold model has the classic Panda look that is so coveted in the Daytona line. This model also features a monobloc Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic with an Oysterflex bracelet. The 18K yellow and Everose models have metal bezels with Oyster bracelets. Each houses calibre 4130 and is a Superlative Chronometer, like all Rolex watches do.
The New Gem-set Daydate 36 and Lady Datejust
To round out the new offerings, Rolex unveils three gorgeous diamond watches. The Daydate 36 features fully pavé dials with diamond-set bezels, crowns, and clasps. There are three different color combinations: coral, turquoise, and burgundy. Each has brilliantly colored enamel hour markers and different straps and is matched with a complementary metal: coral with 18K yellow gold, turquoise with 18K white gold, or burgundy with 18K Everose gold.
And for the first time, the Lady Datejust comes set with 1,089 diamonds. It’s a striking look, especially in warm 18K yellow gold. The iconic President bracelet features 596 brilliant-cut diamonds. The dials are fully diamond-set, of course, and feature black hour markers that nicely contrast with the white diamonds. It has a 28mm case, which is perfect for day and evening.
