Loyal and majestic

Passion and professionalism for all things equine are deeply rooted in the heritage of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a proud country in the Middle East formed from a federation of seven emirates. The UAE’s history and love of horses go back centuries, with the Bedouins (nomadic Arab people) relying heavily on this loyal and majestic animal.

The Arabian horse originated in the Arabian Gulf and is considered one of the oldest and purest breeds in the world. Handsome animals famous for their wide, flat foreheads, soulful eyes, broad muzzles, erect ears, slender necks and gleaming manes, Arabian horses are renowned for their beauty, loyalty, strength and intelligence.

Purebred Arabian racehorses can be seen at top racecourses throughout the world and are known for their good looks and endurance.

Long-running event

Dubai’s ruler, his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Sheikh Mohammed has a deep respect for the history and traditions of thoroughbred racing, which can be traced back to the origins of the breed 300 years ago when three Arabian stallions, The Darley Arabian, The Godolphin Arabian and The Byerley Turk, gave rise to the foundation lines.

It is no surprise that Dubai has a long-running annual event dedicated to the equine industry and lovers of Arabian thoroughbreds, which takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre, the premier events space in the region.

Middle East’s largest Arabian equestrian event provides a lucrative trade platform for the multi-billion-dollar equine industry. Inaugurated in 2003, DIHF has quickly shown its strength in the equestrian field.

Professional and leisure

The DIHF is now the region’s largest trade platform for the equine sector, which brings together leading equestrian equipment companies, horse owners, breeders, stables owners, equestrian clubs, veterinarians, services and care products, all serving the needs of both professional and leisure riders, and wider horse enthusiasts.

Held alongside DIHF is the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship (DIAHC) – a competition displaying the beauty, agility and heritage of purebred Arabian. The Championship is one of the richest of its kind in the world The Championship attracts the largest gathering of royalty and enjoys the participation of some of the world’s finest purebred Arabian horses.
