A decade of style and innovation: Christian Grande celebrates the anniversary of the Iseo chair, a symbol of timeless design and enduring functionality that continues to captivate.
If it is true that icons are timeless, then some birthdays should always be celebrated. This applies to the Iseo chair, designed ten years ago by Christian Grande for Foresti&Suardi, which has become a point of reference for contemporary design.
Since its launch, the Iseo chair has represented the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality, standing out for the skilful use of fine materials and attention to detail, symbols of Italian craftsmanship.
“The Iseo chair project was inspired by the concept of simplicity in appearance, embodying a single, continuous line that seamlessly follows the chair’s entire profile from top to bottom, free from any extraneous elements,” describes Christian Grande.
Made of teak and steel, the Iseo chair offers a comfortable seat and can be easily stowed away when not in use. The combination of these materials, chosen for their exceptional aesthetic and structural characteristics, is the reason behind the success of the Iseo chair. The teak and steel structure is the result of a production process that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies, creating a material transition that is both elegant and refined.
The search for new shapes and aesthetic effects has led to the creation of an innovative folding armchair, characterised by a curved teak wood structure with a trapezoidal section, which forms two semi-shells. The shells are joined by a steel “X”, creating the chair’s folding frame. This design allows not only easy handling, but also delivers unparalleled beauty.
The attention to detail extends to fabrics and finishes. The chair’s fabrics wrap around 3D synthetic mesh padding, with an internal cavity that ensures ventilation and rapid drying, preventing mould and unpleasant odours. This feature makes the Iseo chair ideal for use both indoors and outdoors, perfect for enriching the spaces of boats and villas.
With the Iseo chair, Christian Grande has shown how a well-conceived design can last over time, becoming an icon of style and functionality. Ten years on, the Iseo chair is still celebrated and admired for its timeless beauty.
