The W Collection set to break records with its €30 million collection of classic cars – 9th May in Monaco

Connoisseurs of the most desirable classic cars should mark this coming May in their busy calendar. The W Collection, a wholly private collection of cars is set to break records as the collection’s 44 cars – many the most iconic names with excellent provenance – get put under the gavel. Crucially for buyers eyeing a potential steal, the auction comes with no reserve.

Its Swedish owner, a magnate with business interests immersed in the fashion industry, has put his entire collection up for sale. The auction will be presided over by Artcuriel, the Paris-based auction house which expands its interests beyond cars to fine wines, art and watches.

Illustrious models from regions such as Germany and Italy will hold sway and certain models in particular will grab international buyer interest. Two excellent Mercedes-Benz cars lead the pack – a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster and 300SL Gullwing. The 300SL in Roadster or Gullwing guise is considered the most desirable Benzes manufactured of all time, and the clamour for bagging one is set to be strong.

Auction estimates often tend to be loose bellwether if condition and a particular provenance prove ideal for the monied buyer determined to acquire a car at any cost. Current value guides for the 300SL Gullwing range anywhere between €2,400,000 – €2,900,000.

No private collection should be sans the emblem of a Ferrari and several of the gold standard models are up for sale. Take the beautiful 1958 Ferrari 250 GT California LWB – guided at €7,000,000 – €10,000,000). A no reserve on the cars opens the possibility of either keeping the market value median or break new records.

Wanting a Ferrari with a genuine competitive racing pedigree? Then the impossibly desirable Ferrari 250 GT SWB is as exclusive as they come. Deep pockets are needed as 250 GT SWB prices have skyrocketed to €12,000,000 when changing hands.

The event on 9th May is guaranteed feast for ears and eyes.
