Promoting a new electric car from China launching in the European market is something to be proud of, so, of course, we accepted this invitation.
On July 3, I flew to Gothenburg to visit the design centre and head office of ZEEKR Europe.
The words of admiration I read about this car were impressive:
“Already an immediate success story in their home market, the ZEEKR 001 and ZEEKR X are bringing the same compelling blend of distinctive design, state-of-the-art technology, range and performance to Europe, together with everything customers need for a seamless ownership experience, to firmly establish the ZEEKR brand’s place in the world’s most established luxury car market. Befitting a young, highly ambitious brand, it is ZEEKR’s goal to expand into most countries in Western Europe by 2026.”
They set the bar high for my expectations for the launch of this pearl in the automotive industry.
Although the cold weather in Gothenburg was a bit disappointing, the welcome I received from the professional ZEEKR team upon my arrival at my hotel was warm, and they presented the same state-of-the-art performance they claim for the car.
On the evening of July 6, on an impressive stage, with a team of about 20 journalists, influencers, and press people, we were witnesses to the new ZEEKR 001 and ZEEKR X being presented for the first time.
Right away, I was surprised by the beautiful design that is a mix of luxury, comfort and a professional presentation, and on the other side, it is sportive, young and, in my opinion, very refreshing. The details of the different materials and a bit of colour along with sleek white leather car seats give you a feeling of comfort and status. This car is made for success.
The ZEEKR X is a bit smaller and made for the young, comfortable driver in the city or traveling long distances.
All the prejudices I had against electric cars drifted away during my test drive through the beautiful landscape of Gothenburg. I was flying along the streets, enjoying the silence, the new car smell and the amazing design of the car. My digital assistant helped me back to the ZEEKR design centre, an option I highly appreciated.
An extra plus was the people working there. I think that when happy people at a happy company put their love into a product, the consumer will feel that love. It might sound a bit soft talking this way about a car, but my soft tone reflects the feeling I had after my test drive with the ZEEKR 001 and definitely after my visit to Gothenburg.
I advise all readers to take a test drive at dealerships in Amsterdam and Gothenburg.
